Ash is a young teen from the small village of Pallet Town, whose ambition is to be recognized as the greatest Pokémon Trainer the world has ever seen. His adventurous spirit is remarkable for his age. While he is unimaginably dumb most of the time, he is wise enough to respect the delicate balance between Pokémon and their trainers. Don't let her cute pigtails fool you; Misty is a serious Pokémon trainer with a powerful collection of Water-type Pokémon. Through hard work and dedication, she and her sisters have become the official Gym Leaders in Cerulean City. She met up with Ash when he stole her bike to escape attacking Spearow. When Misty got her bike back it was broken. She now claims that she is following Ash so he can pay her back for her bike but there is obvoiusly some Chemistry between Ash and Misty. Tracey has recently joined Ash and friends on their Pokémon journey. He has the new Pokémon, Marril, and loves to make sketches of Pokémon. He has taken over for Brock as the wise leader of the group. Brock is the gutsy former leader of the Pokémon Gym in Pewter City. He specializes in Rock-type Pokémon. Brock joined Ash and Misty on their Pokémon quest to help him on his own quest which is to become the World's Greatest Pokémon Breeder. Brock recently left the group to stay and learn with a Pokémon Scientist they met. Tracey has now replaced Brock but you never know if or when Brock may show up again. Team Rocket is a heartless society of Pokémon trainers bent on controlling all Pokémon and, ultimately, the world. Jesse and James are two prominent members of Team Rocket who work with their mischievous Meowth to prevent Ash from reaching his goal. They are always trying unsucessfully to steal Pikachu. Luckily Ash is always able to make them "Blast off again". Professor Oak is a kindly Pokémon expert who lives in Pallet Town and exposes Ash to the world of Pokémon. He is the person who gave Ash his first Pokémon, Pikachu, and his PokéDex. Oak has dedicated his life to the study of Pokémon, and possesses great knowledge on all aspects of Pokémon behavior. Whenever Ash is in need of advice or just wants to check in he calls Prof. Oak. Gary is Professor Oak's grandson and Ash's lifelong rival. He would like nothing more than to see Ash fail. Gary appears throughout Ash's journey to challenge him to Pokémon battles. For Ash to become the World's Greatest Pokémon Trainer, he must eventually defeat Gary.
